Ridgeline Kitchen

The owners cooked in a narrow galley that faced a blank wall while the dining room next door sat unused for most of the week. They wanted one room, and they wanted it to feel like it had always been one room.

The dividing wall was load-bearing, so we opened it with a flush steel beam set inside the ceiling depth rather than dropping a bulkhead. Services were rerouted before any finishes arrived on site. Cabinetry is rift-sawn oak with a honed marble worktop and a single run of concealed lighting.

Nine weeks on site, finished on the date agreed at the survey. The kitchen now takes the morning light from the dining room windows, and the seam where the wall stood is invisible.
